How to apply
Four steps, plain language, and a person to call at every one of them.
Start with a conversation
Call, email, or stop by the office. Tell us what you need and roughly what your finances look like. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit before you fill out a single form — and this conversation costs nothing and affects nothing.
Gather your documents and apply
Your loan officer will give you a short, specific list of what to bring. You can complete the application on paper, over the phone, or in person — whatever is easiest. If a question is confusing, ask us. We would rather explain it twice than have you guess.
Local review
Your file is reviewed right here in Siskiyou County. We look at your whole situation, not just a score, and we understand seasonal and rural income. If we need more information, we will call you rather than deny the file.
Sign, receive funds, and stay in touch
We will walk you through every term before you sign, then release your funds. After that your loan officer stays available — especially if a hard month comes. Call us early and we can almost always work something out.
What to bring
This is the usual list. Your loan officer will confirm exactly what your application needs — if you are missing something, tell us and we will help you find a way.

- Photo identification
- Proof of income — pay stubs, benefit letters, or self-employment records
- Recent bank statements
- Proof of address
- Tribal enrollment documentation, if applicable
- For business loans: a business plan or a written description of the business
- For consolidation loans: statements for the debts you want to combine
- A list of your current monthly bills and debts
Common questions
Do I need good credit?
No. We serve people specifically because conventional lenders turn them away. A low score or no credit history does not disqualify you from applying.
Do I have to be a Tribal member?
No. We serve low-income individuals, Tribal members, and small businesses throughout our Northern California service area.
How long does a decision take?
It depends on the loan and how quickly documents come in. Ask your loan officer for a timeline when you apply — they will give you a straight answer.
Does asking a question hurt my credit?
No. You can call and talk through your situation with us without any effect on your credit.
What if I get turned down?
We will tell you why and what would need to change. In many cases a credit builder loan or free coaching is the bridge to an approval later.
What if I fall behind on payments?
Call us as early as you can. We are a nonprofit, not a collections operation, and we would much rather adjust a schedule than see a loan fail.
